Chicory root fiber
Inulin has been part of our daily diet for hundreds of years as you find it in many fruits and vegetables like onions, leek, bananas and garlic, among many other plants. The chicory plant is one of the plant species that stores a relatively high amount of inulin in its roots. Chicory roots are therefore the main commercial source for inulin. Inulin derived from the chicory plant is often labelled as chicory root fiber or chicory root extract.
With just hot water, the chicory root fiber is extracted from the roots. Chicory root fiber comes in a range of powders and liquids with different technological properties. Sensus supplies its ingredients under the brand names Frutafit® inulin and Frutalose® oligofructose.
